Below are the open studio times for this week (Tuesday, February 13 – Saturday, February 17).

You will notice that we don’t have an evening studio time this week.  Due to the design of the new space, we are not able to leave the front door unlocked without having a receptionist.

I am working hard to find somebody to cover for us, and I hope to have someone in place within the next week or two.

I truly appreciate everyone’s patience and support.  We’re creating something wonderful here and I’m so happy to have all of you along for the ride!

Open Studio Times

Tuesday: 11am – 5pm
Wednesday: 2:30pm – 5pm
Thursday: 11am – 5pm
Friday: 11am – 5pm
Saturday: noon – 4pm

Reminder: Open Studio Time is only for students currently enrolled in a ceramics class at Creative Art Exchange.

I’m happy to say that we’re now registering for our next session.  It will be a six-week session begining the week of February 5th and going through March 17th.

As for the building, we’re not open to the public yet (so register for your class online or by phone 704-892-7323).

The space is coming along very nicely and I know all of you will love it when you see it.

I’m hoping that the doors will be open some time next week (but don’t hold me to it). 

We still have a lot of work to do after the construction is completed.  Shelving will go up in the ceramics studios, track lighting will be installed in all of the studios and in the gallery. 

Speaking of the gallery, we’ll need to paint that. 

Whew, the list just keeps on growing.

But we’re making history here in Cornelius and we can’t wait to share it with you.

So, just a little while longer.  I’ll be sure to keep you all posted.

For those of you who are new to this blog, let me catch you up to speed.

Two weeks ago, we left our original home in Davidson along with our original name: The Icehouse Center for Creativity, Craft & Design (named for the historic ice plant we were housed in).

Our new space is at the Oak Street Mill Village in Cornelius.  And our new name is Creative Art Exchange.

This is the start of a unique venture in our region.  The space is part of a collaborative partnership with the Town of Cornelius and the Children’s Arts Project.  We are all working on creating a visual arts destination in the North Mecklenburg region.

The construction has been happening for a couple of weeks now and a lot has been done. 

Windows are coming back into the space after being boarded up for some time.  And the walls for the studios are being built and painted.

The space will include a nice reception area, an expanded exhibit gallery, two multi-purpose studios, a ceramics studio, and a dedicated children’s studio, along with administrative offices.

Keep checking back to the blog for the latest update on what’s happening at the Center.  And don’t forget to stop by for a visit.
